No, I don't believe that people should be working in slave-like conditions because it's most profitable. However, if the national women's soccer team averages 12,000 cable television views per game while the men's team averages 1.2 million, it's fair that the men's players will earn more. If you look at Olympic volleyball, the female players are payed very well because it is benifical to the brand. If men and women's pay was forcibly equalized, male players would just recieve a significant pay cut and women's sports would recieve extreme pressure to up players' salaries. Pitting a highly-supported, wealthy industry against a struggling one would not provide room for a fair discussion of wages. Instead, such a law could bankrupt brands based around female athletics.
