Schools should not teach abstinence-only education because it leaves students uniformed and is ineffective. Abstience only health class is teaching students to simply abstain from sexual activity until they are married. This is often taught in order to help teenagers avoid sexual diseases and teen pregnancy, yet it has been proven time and time again that it is not effective. When the students who have only been taught abstinence do chose to participate in sexual activity- as the majority of teenagers do at some point in high school- they are uniformed in how to keep themselves safe. Students are left wondering about extremely important aspects to life such as STD's, condom use, or birth control.
